India is a land of powerful men who lived and continue to live even this day. One among them who lived during the late 19th century was Swami Vivekananda. He was born on 12th January 1863 in Bengal. Ramakrishna Mission has published his works in 8 volumes by name "The complete works of Swami Vivekananda" and it is very difficult to write a concise article about a man of his status in a post this small. The remedy for this is that you read all the eight volumes and you would accept that he is the lion among men who ever existed in this world.
A few of the qualities that I have understood from reading his works are his positive approach to life, his teachings, his service to the Master, his practiising skills and the determination to work. I haven't met someone in life who has got atleast 50% of the qualities that I have written above. Qualities like detachment, analysing the truth, segregation of humans based on their skills akin to segregation of chaf and grains remain inspirational even to this day and unparalled. Swami Vivekananda's teachings are needed by each and evey one of us the current day. The youth would do well to draw inspiration from his life, from the courage he had, the devotion and detachment he experienced.
Students these days go to schools and colleges to study the academics. They are useful to know some subjects like arts, science or a few languages and once graduation is complete one should have exemplary courage to lead a decent life. Who will teach how to live? Inspiration can be taken only from people like Swami Vivekananda who showed the world how to live a life and still be remembered even after a hundred years.
